From Tree To Sea x Monalysa
I will never forget this day. The light. The gentleness of the women around me. The joy each of us felt sharing in three things we each adored.
Photography. Florals. Ceramics.
I met Lauren of From Tree to Sea at Plant. First, I reached out to her hoping to bring her ceramics into Plant but then suddenly we were interviewing her and falling in love with her. We worked together at Plant for almost two years. I am in awe of Lauren. As a self taught ceramist, she brings her whole self to her work and it shows. She is down to earth, gentle, intentional, not afraid to get dirty, appreciates beauty and upholds nature - all of which truly show up in her work. Natural, raw, rich, delicate, lovely. I loved collaborating with Lauren on this shoot. A highlight for me.
Below are some behind-the-scenes Lauren snapped on our shoot. ♡
Emma Palm and I grew up in the same small prairie town. Our family’s grew up playing soccer together. It’s wonderful how small the world can be sometimes. Lauren and Emma work together at Workshop Studios and Lauren brought us all together for this photoshoot.
Emma shoots on film, an art that I have always been in awe of. I’ve had a camera in my hand since I was twleve but I have never been able to understand it well enough to make an art out of it. Emma has a beautiful creative eye and uses the camera to capture moments as well as beauty.
Emma walked in that morning with fruit she’d picked up from the Rimbey Farmer’s Market. Instantly, I was transported into a dream. For one, I could see exactly where Emma picked up the fruit and feelings of nostalgia flooded over me. But as I stood there watching Emma work and seeing Lauren’s ceramics filled with flowers I was overwhelmed with gratitude and joy.
I felt so honoured to be in the room with these talented women. It was magical, every moment. The light. The space. (Workshop Studios is uh-mazing.) The art. Moments like these you realize that you must follow your dreams. You must go after that which makes your heart glow. I see that in Emma’s work and in Lauren’s work and I see it in these images of my work. Delight. Joy. Beauty. Depth. A collaboration of talent that upholds all these things. I hope you enjoy the images below and dream a little too.
